Local Creators Night – Amber Engelhardt

March 21, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This week’s session features Amber Engelhardt.

By the time March in Minnesota rolls around, I know we’ll all be desperate for Spring. Until the real flowers grow, how about we make our own? In this mixed-media project we will use multiple mediums to design a charming little flower, personalized with your choice of word. You will adhere your design onto a salvaged wood block, creating a small piece of art that I call Lil’ Art Blocks. Block sizes will vary, but are approximately 2.5″x4″.

All supplies will be provided. Wood blocks and patterned paper will be pre-painted (in the interest of time). I will teach you how to create the black outline and watercolor-distressed look using a Stabilo pencil, paint brush and water. Finally, we will seal the block with matte varnish. Each artist will choose their flower color and word. Examples of word choices are: Seek, grow, joyful, renew, love, brave, faith, etc.

This project is for all levels: the experienced artist to the wanna-be artist and everything in between. You are sure to leave with a project you can be proud of!
