At Forager Brewery, we're thrilled to share a significant milestone in our sustainability journey. Over the past six months, we've successfully diverted an incredible 42,250 pounds of waste from landfills through our dedicated composting initiatives.
This achievement is a testament to our commitment to environmental stewardship. Our composting efforts span every aspect of our operations, from the Forager kitchen and café, where we diligently compost food scraps and coffee grounds, to our restrooms, where our environmentally-conscious patrons help by composting paper towels.
We couldn't be prouder of our entire team for their unwavering dedication to this cause. Their commitment is not just inspiring; it's a shining example of how small actions can make a big difference in preserving our planet.
What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is that the 42,250-pound figure doesn't include the spent grain from our brewing process. We partner with Cannon Valley Ranch, our beef supplier, to repurpose this spent grain as cattle feed, contributing to a circular and sustainable system.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated staff, whose commitment to sustainability has made this achievement possible, and to our loyal customers who actively participate in our composting program. We're also grateful to Green RU for their crucial role in collecting and processing the composted materials.
We are especially thankful to our colleague Donna Layton, who brought this composting proposal to us last summer. She had been searching for a solution ever since the only provider in Rochester stopped offering the service a few years ago. It is invaluable to have a team here at Forager who are all working together to be kind to our planet. We feel incredibly fortunate to have such a like-minded group.
